TherX™ is a proprietary extract (Kosher, Halal) of Apocynum venetum L. Other names are Chinese blue (or bluish) dogbane, Rafuma, and luobuma 羅布麻. Care should be used to not confuse it with Indian Hemp (Apocynum cannabinum), Apocynum androsaemifolium, poacynum pictum, poacynum hendersonii, or the Blue Dogbane native to Texas. Chinese White or Pink Dogbane are inferior substitutes often presented as the same plant.
Apocynum venetum L. is mentioned in the ancient Dun Huang Manuscripts as a powerful longevity tonic. It long has been used as a tea in China, especially for the elderly, as a sleep aid and to reduce high blood pressure. The herb has been the subject of considerable research and shown to be safe even at relatively high dosages used over extended periods.
Apocynum venetum L. contains a large number of active constituents. It is perhaps the single richest natural source of isoquercitrin (this form may exhibit up to 18 times the bioavailability of quercetin). In addition, it contains mild cardio-glycosides along with 20-30 other active compounds, the uptake of which apparently is improved by the particular mixture of compounds found in the herb.
TherX™ is produced through a special three-step exhaustive extraction using only water and ethanol that is designed to keep everything but the inactive cellulose from the original source material. Consequently, TherX™ can be expected to provide all of the health benefits described in the official Australian Gov. monograph Publication No. 06/128 Project No.DAV-227A and other studies based on a standardized Total Flavonoids content (Hyperoside and Isoquercitrin) of NLT 4%.
The vasculature dilation effects of the extract, including in the brain, can be considerable.
